The state-level ‘Watan Punjab Para Games, an initiative of the Sports Department, District Administration, and Punjab Para Sports Association, started on Wednesday. These games have competitions in athletics, badminton, and power lifting. The event was officially launched by the District Sports Officer, Kuldeep Chugh.
On the first day, badminton was played in Shastri Badminton Hall, matches were played there. In the SL-4 women’s category, Saniya from Malerkotla won first position and got second position Navjot from Ludhiana. Anmol from Muktsar Sahib also entered the third position.
In the wheelchair category-2, Paramjit Singh from Patiala defeated Ashwani Kumar from Ludhiana second and Suresh Kumar from Moga became third.
The occasion was attended by Punjab Para Sports Association’s general secretary, Jaspreet Singh, Gagandeep Singh with Badminton Coordinator Rakesh Kumar.
